Cost: $80 for each team of 4, each team will receive a free can of tennis balls to keep at the conclusion of the competition.
Entry deadline is 1pm Friday the 10th of February for school to have their team into Tennis Manawatu.
Results: Teams must hand in their score cards & balls to the tournament office after their match. Results will be displayed with the draw on www.tennismanawatu.org.nz on the Secondary Schools page. Points table will be updated by Friday 12pm.
Points: Teams will be awarded one point for each match they win. All grades have 4 matches to play worth 1 point each, if the match results in a draw then a count back on points will be needed to decide the winner. An extra (bonus) point will be given for winning the fixture, so teams will be able to accumulate a maximum of 5 points per fixture. The winner of each grade of the competition will be the team with the most points. In the case of a tie, a count back will take place. The team who has won the most individual points will be deemed the winner.
Finals: Finals will be played on the 21st of March, this is after all teams have played each other (weather depending). 1st will play 2nd, 3rd will play 4th & 5th will play 6th This will apply for every grade.
Default: If defaulting your team, you must let Tennis Manawatu know by leaving a message on 3502966 stating clearly your name, school, team name, grade and reason for default. This must be done by 12pm Wednesday; earlier notice is appreciated. Teams not giving notification will lose 1 point from their score. Teams that default without giving prior notice will lose 1 point and also will be fined $15. Schools are encouraged to have a reserve system in place so that defaults are avoided.
Rescheduled games: Rained out games will not be rescheduled, the draw will continue with the scheduled dates and matches.
Competition format:
All grades will play 2 doubles matches. Each game is played for 20min. Tennis Manawatu will supply balls. After 5 serves, service ends, after 10 points change ends. You do this for the 20mins of your match.
Scoring: You have 20min to play your match and you will score it as follows. You will get 1 point for every point won.
Dress: Appropriate attire must be worn at all times, preferably a school PE uniform if appropriate for tennis. Sports shoes must be worn.
Cancellations:
TMI will cancel fixtures due to weather conditions by 12pm on Wednesday. School will be contacted from the contact information provided on the contact sheet. This will also be posted on the website.
Times of Play: Round 1 players need to be at Vautier Park by 3.50pm for matches to start at 4pm.
Round 2 players need to be at the Vautier Park by 4.35pm for matches to start at 4.45pm.
All teams must report to the tournament office on arrival, located on the ground floor of the facility.

Junior Boys Grade 4 Beginner/Social junior players
Junior Mixed/Girls Grade 4 Beginner/Social junior players
Senior Boys Grade 4 Social senior players
Senior Mixed/Girls Grade 4 Social senior players
