Teachers Art Development:
These workshops are designed for primary school teachers and art educators with the aim of providing a practical skills-based experience in a range of different media, to extend knowledge and to encourage more art in the classroom. We begin in the gallery, viewing the current exhibition to inspire, educate and motivate, then move on to the practical workshop in the studio.

Term 1
Mixed Media
This workshop will help to enhance your knowledge of combining different forms of media into a finished artwork. Blending textural surface preparation, paper pulps, collage and paint techniques you will create an artwork that uses text with a science fiction theme. We will experiment with different types of wet and dry media including pastels, paints, ink and dyes. You will learn methods of blending these various materials together to form interesting line and tonal contrasts with layered washes to create a sense of depth.

This workshop will provide you with the basis of a teaching unit to utilise back in your classroom.
