Taste of Japan is a Japanese cultural festival that gives visitors the chance to take part in a variety of workshops in a fun way. People of all ages can have a "taste of Japan" - whether their taste is for origami, shodo (calligraphy), sado (tea ceremony) or sushi making.
2012 is a special year for New Zealand and & Japan as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two nations.
The event will feature:
- Daidabou, a famous Taiko troup from Nagano;
- Taiko workshops, the Arigato Concert on Sunday 28th October;
- A sweet-maker from Takasaki Gunma.
Mr Miyazawa from Mishouan will conduct wagashi (Japanese traditional sweets) workshops and demonstrations.
With the support of AUT Culinary Arts and many generous sponsors, the New Zealand-Japan Fusion Cooking Challenge Final will take place at the museum event centre. The winner will win a trip to Japan to experience an internship at a top-end Japanese restaurant. The audience will get a chance to watch the final competition live!
On the top floor of the event centre will be the NZ-Japan Business Expo. For further information, please check out the website, or www.nzjapan.net.
