Come along to a fun-filled day of Māori traditional games for all the whole whānau to celebrate Puaka Matariki. In traditional times, great festivals (which included game playing) were held to mark Puaka/Matariki. The taonga tākaro we will be learning about and playing are whanowhano, mitimiti, poi toa, horohopu, ki-o-rahi and tapuwae.
No experience needed. All gear provided. You just need to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can play in. Don’t forget your water bottle.
There is no cost just bring food for a shared kai. This event is for all ages, so if your keen, register now!
