Takapuna Night Markets

The popular Takapuna Beach Night Market makes a return on Thursday 13th & 20th December 2012 as part of Takapuna Beach’s 12 Days of Christmas celebrations.

The night markets will then take their regular spot each Thursday night between 5pm & 9pm from 17th January 2013 until the end March 2013.

The markets were launched last year in conjunction with the Rugby World Cup, however operators felt that it was better to wait for the longer daylight hours and more settled weather before starting this year.

The McKenzies development has invigorated the southern end of Hurstmere Rd with its strong hospitality cluster, including Mexico, Zomer, Elske and The Commons attracting large numbers of people from throughout Auckland (over 60% of bookings at The Commons are from people south of the bridge).

The market will assist in the revitalisation of the Hurstmere Green and will include a mixture of stalls including food and great entertainment.

The market will hopefully be a catalyst for coordinated late night shopping hours by Takapuna retailers, will improve connectivity between Takapuna Beach and Hurstmere Rd and all profits from the night market will be distributed to local community groups and organisations.
