Steel Magnolias - Auditions

Audiences will remember the blockbuster Hollywood film Steel Magnolias featuring an all-star cast including Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine and Julia Roberts.

Steel Magnolias was originally written for the stage and The Rotorua Little Theatre will return Magnolias to its roots using the original script, produced in 1987 by Robert Harling.

Steel Magnolias is a comedy/drama about the bond between a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana USA. The action centers on Truvy's beauty parlour and the women who gather there. The story begins on the morning of Shelby's wedding and covers the events over the next three years, including Shelby's decision to have a child despite having type 1 diabetes and the likely-hood of complications. Steel Magnolias will make you laugh and cry with sharp, funny dialogue the play builds to a conclusion that is deeply moving.

Auditions will be held at the Shambles Theatre 7.30pm Wednesday 1st February and Thursday 2nd February 2012. A cast of six women (all ages) is required.

Production dates - Steel Magnolias will run at the Shambles Theatre from 13 to 28 April 2012.
