North Shore writers read their poetry and prose.
Join North Shore writers in The PumpHouse Amphitheatre as they read their own work - published and unpublished.
Writers include:
Norman Kearney - short poem, a true story with a humorous ending ( the joke was on him!).
Pam Laird - short story. An Afternoon with Katherine Mansfield. Also two short poems: (one in honour of Pam Ayres), I Wanted me Kids to be Safe, & Earthquake.
Barbara Algie - poem ‘The Pink Lady’. Barbara is with Mairangi Writers group and the International Writer Workshop.
Anne Russell will be talking about her newly-published children’s book Little Truff, the tale of an abandoned King Charles spaniel. “I used to have a rescue dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was a gorgeous little girl who had been badly mistreated before we got her. She gave me the idea for writing this book. “
Bev Robitai will read excerpts from her latest theatre murder mystery, Body on the Stage. The first in the series, Murder in the Second Row, was published in 2010 and is available in print and online. The new book has hot men, weight loss, and a full production of Ladies Night.
Angela Reading - writer and painter. Poems - Time for Remembering and The Miracle of Life.
Naked man delighted audience! Last year’s event at The PumpHouse was a lively affair with writers of all ages and genres sharing their work with an appreciative audience. Jenny Harrison’s spirited description of her novel hero’s nude nocturnal sprint through small-town streets brought the house down, as did Alice Hooten’s poem about the facts of life.
This year’s writers promise more good laughs, with poems, stories, tales of male strippers and a cute fluffy puppy.
Remember to bring a cushion and a sun hat to enjoy the outdoor seating in The Amphitheatre at the Pumphouse. (Indoor the main theatre if wet)
