About Sounds Aotearoa:
Sounds Aotearoa is a New Zealand music expo designed to enrich the NZ music industry and expose NZ music to the global market. With the support of Creative New Zealand and The British Council, Sounds Aotearoa is able to bring some of the world’s top festival bookers and agents to the conference to not only expose them to some of NZ’s top talent, but also so these industry professionals can share their knowledge of the global music-market with all NZ music industry delegates at the day-time conferences. It is a two-day event in beautiful New Plymouth, preceding the popular Womad festival. Sounds Aotearoa is a trade expo and conference by day and, by night, a showcase of some of the most exciting world-class NZ grown talent.

Artist showcases:
Next year’s showcasing artists range in style from indie rock through hip-hop to sunshine reggae, with lots in between, promising an engaging evening’s entertainment for the public, delegates and overseas guests.

Line-up:
The first night of performances on will be from Auckland indie-rockers Clap Clap Riot; soul-funk hip-hop group Kolab; Wellington funk-soul powerhouse Iva Lamkum; Hamilton 6-piece dub fusion masters Knights Of The Dub Table; and the much-lauded collaboration of Paddy Free and Dr Richard Nunns, along with Horomona Horo and Waimihi Hotere that is Nga Tae.

The following night’s entertainment includes the French-electro-jazz world of the enigmatic Mamaku Project; super-popular Wellington sunshine reggae eight-piece Tomorrow People; street soul rapping from Auckland group Eddie Numbers; much respected DJ and producer Scratch 22 with his electronic psychedelia; and loveable Wellington blues-rockers The Nudge round out the event’s stunning presentation of NZ music.

Presenters:
The presenters and key note speakers will announced in the new year along with the programme. Watch this space or visit the website for details.
