Many would consider The Breakfast Club the greatest teen high school film of all time. We can’t disagree. Written and directed in 1985 by John Hughes, the cult classic film sees every high school stereotype come together in Saturday detention – an experience that helps them realise they’re not really so different after all.
Enjoy the classic flick at Silo Cinema this Friday, with our all star cast of food providers in full effect from 5pm. Craft beer, local wines and mulled wine are on offer from the container bar, hot water bottles are available and DJs Hannah & Lia will grace the wheels of steel. This is one not to be missed!
More on the film…
Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy), Andrew Clark (Emilio Estevez), John Bender (Judd Nelson), Brian Johnson (Anthony Michael Hall), and Claire Standish (Molly Ringwald) become unlikely friends, sticking it to their deputy principal with this infamous letter – they are The Breakfast Club.
Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong, but we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us… In the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain…Brian Johnson …and an athlete… Andy Clark…and a basket case… Allison Reynolds… a princess… Claire Standish… and a criminal… John Bender
Does that answer your question?… Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
