A narrated guided tour through the original Thames settlement of Shortland. Hear the stories of this boom town from Graham Robinson, who will inform you about the early negotiations for a town with local Maori, early settlers, the start of gold-mining, the arrival of the miners, early businesses, rail and road access across the river, shipping, the notorious Captain Butts hotel the great fire of 1872 and a lot more.
Meet at Shortland Wharf.
