This luscious programme will delight with the string serenades of Elgar and Tchaikovsky, as well as something exceptional.
CPE Bach's Flute Concerto in D major was lost during the composer's lifetime, disappeared in archives in Germany in the 19th century and by some means in WWII got itself on a train leaving Berlin, which caught fire. The music was then rescued by Russian soldiers who took it to the Ukraine where it was discovered, in the Museum of the archives for Literature and Art in Kiev, in about 1997.
The sources are now housed in the State Library of Berlin.
Finally published in 2002 by Musica Rara, the world premiere was conducted by Sarah Bisley in the church of St.Julien-le-Pauvre in Paris, October 2004.
This scintillating concerto with soloist Luca Manghi is not to be missed!
