Salsadrome! Latin Dance Party on Friday nights. The Whitireia Performance Centre has great wood floors, very good acoustics, and is comfortably air conditioned - it's a nice spot for dancing. If you love Latin dance, or are just interested in seeing what all the fuss is about, it's well worth stopping in for a fun night out.

Salsadrome Is Now Every - That's Right Every - Friday Night!

The night starts with lessons, from 7:30 p.m. Lessons usually offer tips from local and visiting Latin dance instructors in a variety of styles, all geared toward beginners and improvers. Lessons are included in the entry price, and everyone joins in - it's a great warmup, and very friendly.

From 9:00 p.m. till late the DJ spins a variety of danceable Latin songs - salsa, merengue, zouk, bachata, and more. There are two separate dance rooms, so you can tango your heart out, as well. Salsa dancers are usually well divided between linear and Cuban styles, with quite a few people mixing it up.

Wellington's Latin dance scene is casual and friendly, and this is a great way to visit with friends, make new ones, dance, or just watch and see if you might be interested.
