SA Gold is a most enjoyable South African sing-along show for the whole family. The repertoire comprises of more than 20 of the biggest South African hits through the decades.
Who can ever forget true South African classics like 4 Jacks and a Jill's "Master Jack" and "Timothy", Steve Hofmeyr's "Pampoen", Theuns Jordaan's "Sonneblom uit Bethlehem"; "Miriam Makeba's "Click Song" and Groep 2' s big hit "Dink Jy Darem Nog aan My?"?
Add to that "Sproetjies" (made famous by Sias Reinecke in 1981); "Transkaroo" (theme song of the popular South African TV-series); "Ou Ryperd" (made famous by Chris Blignaut many years ago and recently revived by Dozi); "Op Blouberg se Strand"; (a Laurika Rauch classic from the late 80's); Sonja Herholdt's ever-popular "Harlekyn"; "Liefling" (originally sung by the one and only Gè Korsten and recently revived by various top SA artists); Koos Kombuis's haunting composition "Lisa se Klavier"; "Kinders van die Wind" (composed by SA legend Koos du Plessis and originally made famous by Laurika Rauch) and even "Haai Casanova", (a huge Springbok hit in die early 70's sung by Glenys Lynne, leading lady of 4 Jacks and a Jill).
All these songs and more are what SA Gold is all about. The songs are performed by the most talented ex-South African singers New Zealand has to offer and the highly skilled and very entertaining SA Gold band led by Edwin Randall who toured the world for many years as part of the "We Will Rock You" Queen tribute show, "The Buddy Holly Show" and "Grease".
Don’t miss SA Gold and remember that real South African “vetkoek” and mince will be available from 6:30pm. Don’t have dinner at home, come and join us at Windsor Baptist Auditorium for a most enjoyable evening… South African style!
