RnB Rise - A Tribute to DJ Classic Daddy

"I would like to express my thanks and sincerest appreciation for all the support & love from my friends, fans & DJ brothers. RnB Rise is an event which comes from the heart, as DJs, we have all had to rise above life’s many challenges to remain true to the music we love which makes us the people we are today.

I dedicate 'RnB Rise' to all those who are there now & have been there in the past, to those that have shared, cared & inspired me in so many ways.

In August 2011, Classic was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor that turned cancerous. Since this diagnosis, Classic has braved operations, medication & multiple chemotherapy treatments all of which have grown ever stronger as dosages increase aiming to fight the tumor into remission.

The increased intensity of the medication has taken a heavy toll, so much so that Classic's care team have given him a timeframe of less than 6 months to enjoy life.

They say the true character of a person shows through in moments of adversity. Throughout his entire ordeal, Classic has remained positive & focused on recovery, never bemoaning the fact that fate chose him to face such a dark path.

He has been humbled when in the presence of others young & old in the cancer wards, fighting & dearly holding on for that which is so precious but so many take for granted... life. Cancer has touched the lives of so many, where friends & relatives have suffered more often than not, unable to prevent its rapid progress.

So when Classic asked me to help create his vision for 'RnB Rise' it was an honour. So to all the DJs that have donated their time & all the people coming to the event, a huge thank you. I know you will all enjoy Classic's night, where we pay homage to theDJs & music that started the scene, with one of the best DJ lineups that I have seen for any event in the city...old school baby!

With 'RnB Rise', Classic can focus on his passion - DJing... From his family, he gets unconditional love. Put them both together & we have some powerful positive energy to send a him on his way to his last round of treatment in which lies his final hope for remission... You are in our prayers brother.

All funds raised from RnB Rise will be donated to the NZ Cancer Society.
