Redcliffs School Fair

Last year’s fair was unable to be held in its traditional format as the school was forced from its site as a result of the Christchurch earthquakes.

This year, Redcliffs School is thrilled to be able to revive its fair tradition, with the only difference being a change of venue to nearby Ferrymead Park. There will be fun for the whole family, as the day’s attractions include carnival rides, food stalls, good old-fashioned sideshows, crafts, plants, sweets, cakes, toys, clothes, books and white elephant.

Redcliffs School views this event as the perfect opportunity to bring our scattered community together for the day and enjoy some good family fun. Parents and supporters will be out in full force to ensure the day is a great success, as it is the main fundraiser for the school.

Background: Redcliffs School in Christchurch was forced to leave its site of over 100 years, after the June 2011 earthquake. Staff and children moved schools several times last year until temporarily settling at Van Asch School in the nearby suburb of Sumner, where they still remain, waiting to hear what the future holds for their school. This move from the Redcliffs site meant the school was unable to hold its annual fair in the traditional format in 2011. The fair is one of the biggest school fairs in Christchurch; an event greatly looked forward to by the local community.
