Raewyn Atkinson's trajectory captures the imagination and stimulates an individual response which is subjective yet universal to the human condition. Her art is characterised by beautiful surfaces and the delicate materials, which work as receptacles for light. Light, artificial or natural, is crucial to illuminating their fragility and ice-like qualities.
Atkinson’s appreciation of colour, line and form reference doubt and a quest for the unknown at a personal as well as a universal level. Her sculptured clay forms capture light and accentuate the contradictory qualities of a solid and un-yielding, yet fragile, world.
Ben Webb's still life paintings also beg to be viewed as both beautiful and disarming. Webb produces his painted photographs as simultaneously wonderful and awful in a way that invites us to stand back and simply observe them as that. Webb’s images entreat us not to make judgement, but to appreciate them for what they are.
