Pine Harbour Fresh Market

Since late 2009 Pine Harbour Fresh market has been providing fresh produce and gourmet ingredients to locals and visitors every Saturday morning in all manner of weather. “We had a constant run of wet Saturdays for some time in the spring but that didn’t stop true food enthusiasts coming down to the marina for their weekly fix of the best fresh ingredients,” says market director Fiona Hugues.

The distinctive black and white striped stalls are positioned according to the weather on the day and by 8am are laden with French artisan breads, pastries, macaroons, fresh seasonal and organic produce, chocolates, fresh & smoked fish, sausages, charcuterie, pies, lavender, vintage kitchen & tableware, gourmet products from Greece, France, Turkey, Cornwall and, of course, all over NZ. “Unlike farmers markets, the Fresh Market is not bound by producer seller & locality restrictions so can happily showcase products from all over New Zealand and abroad”.

“There is some perception that because the market looks smart it must be expensive, but that’s not true. Products are very fairly priced and are the same as most other markets if not better. Where else can you find a just baked French croissant for $2.50 or amazing restaurant quality cos lettuce for $1.50?” Fiona says. Plus you can find the very same microgreens & bread rolls found at some of Auckland's top restaurants!

Vintage French jazz is played every Saturday morning which adds to the friendly relaxed vibe Fiona has strived to maintain for the 2 years the market has been operating. “Vendors love to come here and constantly tell me how delightful it is to take part. My long experience in the retail industry taught me how crucial this is to achieve for customers and sellers alike”.

The marina now boasts large permanent Italian style picnic tables positioned amongst the olive trees over looking the marina for visitors to enjoy, with more tables planned for the coming months.

The Pine Harbour Fresh Market is situated on the Pohutukawa Coast which boasts a stunning selection of beaches & national parks within close proximity.
