The Auckland Gamelan Group was started in 1993, and has since performed in festivals around New Zealand, including WOMAD and Jambalaya, as well as many schools. The players are a unique mixture of Western and Eastern cultures, professional and amateur musicians. In 2011, Joko Susilo was invited to be guest music director for all main concerts.
Performance: Come watch an enchanting and wonderful story told through shadow puppetry and gamelan instruments.
Workshop: Stay after the show to learn the history of the Wayang (Indonesian shadow puppet), perform on a gamelan instruments and try your hand at shadow puppetry.
