Pattern Making from a Garment You Love
Sorry, this event’s been and gone
When:
| Wed 15 Feb ’12, 7:00pm–9:00pm |
|
Where: Western Springs College, 100 Motions Rd, Western Springs Show map
Restrictions: R15
Learn how to create a ready-to-sew pattern from your favourite garments.
Bring along two garments you'd like to duplicate. You'll be shown the techniques to transfer a garment to paper without taking it apart, and then produce a perfected pattern ready for sewing.
Choose a simple garment to start with - for example a basic top or skirt. Trousers, fitted tops and dresses would be possible choices for your second item. Complete your patterns under the guidance of experienced designer/patternmaker, Sheryll Stuart.
Sewing experience is required and you'll be encouraged to sew at least one toile between sessions. A ""toile"" is an early version of a finished garment made up in cheap material so that the design can be tested and perfected.
Bring along your garments, of course. You will also need to purchase a few items for this class such as a metre ruler, a large set square and a sewing tracing wheel.
Pattern making paper is included in course fee.
Full details of what to bring (including where to purchase these) will be sent to you closer to the start date. Max 8.
4 x two hour sessions
