Three exhibitions celebrate a prosperous artistic past, represent the present and explore the future.

31 August - 30 September | Opening 30 August, 6pm |Corban Homestead Galleries |

Past | Prominent NZ artists

Bringing together artworks by prominent artists such as Colin McCahon, Mark Adams, John Edgar and Stanley Palmer in Past will demonstrate the breadth of talent and innovation that stems from West Auckland. Additionally, the local landscape has proved especially inspirational to many artists, including Lois McIvor who will also be on show. This exhibition not only celebrates the success of artists who have been historically affiliated with CEAC, but also recognises the important contribution CEAC’s surrounding area and its creative arts scene have made to the New Zealand art canon.

Present | Janet Lilo

Visual artist Janet Lilo negotiates the editing of identity using video, objects and a photography art installation to explore the highly popular genre of reality television and how it formulates new identities. Lilo was selected to represent the Present in this anniversary exhibition as she encapsulates the current focus of CEAC’s exhibition programme in her youth, innovation and unique perspective.

Future | International artists Tim Dwyer

Looking towards the future, Australian video maker/animator/musician Tim Dwyer will present a video work that will assault visitors in a sensory overload created through confused imagery and distorted sound that references badly-made 1980s music videos, computer games and television.
