A celebration of Pacific culture! The Pacifica Living Arts festival is a unique way for both young and old to immerse themselves in all things Pacific, featuring arts and crafts, traditional food and performances by over 30 school multicultural groups.
This festival has been in existence for almost 20 years, and also hosts the West Auckland Multi-Cultural Schools Festival. The Pacifica Living Arts Festival is based at the Pacifica Arts Centre at the Corban Estate (entry on Mt Lebanon Lane) and is governed by the Pacifica Mamas Arts and Cultural Trust.
Join us for the opening celebration on Saturday 3rd November with a free community festival day. Food stalls, arts & craft, exhibitions, and multicultural performances.
The week-long festival includes:
Over 30 schools participating in a five day performance event during which cultural performance groups from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds present their music, dance and song to their peers and the wider community.
A cultural workshop programme for schools through which young people can try a variety of traditional and modern craft and art forms.
Free events such as the Community Festival Day which heralds the Opening of the Festival on Saturday 3rd and Tivaevae Exhibition all day Sunday 4th November.
There are also workshop evenings with Siva Afi from Samoa, the Ignite Youth Night on Thursday 8th November and a celebration of Pacifica Film with a Pollywood night on Friday night to round off the Festival.
