Mike Webber (well known Wanganui "retired" optometrist) and Rose Charities are screening an award winning documentary by Stefano Levi, "Out of the Darkness," to raise funds to purchase a truck to enable patients to be transported to and from the Rose Charities Eye Clinic in Cambodia for treatment.
The documentary follows the journey of a legendary Nepali Eye Surgeon, Dr Sanduk Ruit as he returns to his birth village in one of the remotest areas in northeast Nepal. Dr Ruit and his amazing team trek 12 hours a day carrying an entire makeshift hospital on the backs of porters.
This fundraiser is all about Wanganui people getting behind a Wanganui person who is doing great stuff in a country of need.
Bubbles and nibbles at the Wanganui Collegiate Cafe at 5.30 for a 6.30 screening of the film in the Collegiate Auditorium. It is a real eye-opener!
100% of the ticket price will go towards this very worthy cause.
Tickets can be purchased from Central City Pharmacy; Footloose; Just Looking and Wanganui Eye Care Centre in Wanganui; and David Newman Optometry in Marton.
