Once Upon a Time: scripture as storytelling, especially parables
Jesus is a master-storyteller and many of his tales begin with the words: "The reign of God, the kingdom of heaven is like..." We will dig into some of Jesus' stories and parables from around the world to uncover the depth and delight that is hidden in these stories. But Jesus too is a parable, something that comes out of the blue and startles us, throws us off guard and turns the world upside down.
Come, be surprised, delighted and spun around in the Spirit's web and words. And perhaps we will all 'come true' together.
Megan Mckenna (USA): author, theologian, storyteller and university lecturer has worked with indigenous groups and in 2002 was appointed an Ambassador of Peace for Pax Christi. Foremost she is a lover of words... spun to make meaning, transform and bring hope to the world.
