Versatile, virtuosic & genre-busting.
Following NZ Trio’s huge presence at this year’s NZ International Arts Festival, violinist Justine Cormack, cellist Ashley Brown and pianist Sarah Watkins present a Nelson programme designed to dazzle the senses.
There are three captivating New Zealand works: Gareth Farr's rhythmically infectious Mondo Rondo, the Mediterranean colours and vitality of John Psathas's Island Songs, and the highly original Kingdom from Wellington’s David Downes - an animated film with live music exploring the strange rituals and hidden fantasies of a family meal in film and music; plus the sultry Spanish sounds of Enrique Granados, and Urban Myths, a mesmerising work from Australian Nigel Westlake.
