Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music hosts a lunchtime concert on its Mt Cook Campus.
A collaborative project spearheaded by Lex French, The Hired Sportsmen cross genres and break boundaries with gleeful abandon. Drawing on diverse musical influences, the group play material by Dave Douglas, Bjork, Mandingo, Fela Kuti, Duke Ellington, Ambrose Akinmusire, as well as original compositions penned by French. The group features Nick Tipping (bass), Reuben Bradley (drums), Ben Wilcock (piano/keyboards), newcomer Jake Baxendale (saxophones), and Alexis French (Trumpet).
