NZBG National Cocktail Competition

The New Zealand Bartenders Guild National Cocktail Competition occurs every year to search for the best bartenders to represent New Zealand at the IBA World Cocktail Competition.

The NZBG is a member of the International Bartenders Association together with another 55 countries around the world.

The competition has a qualification round prior to this event where the best ten recipes are selected to take part in the Grand Final.

Divided into two different categories:
Classic: Bartender has to present their own signature original cocktail and make it times five for the judges. Their cocktails are judged on presentation, aroma and, most importantly, flavour.

Flair Bartending: adding to the above the bartenders will show off their skills juggling bottles, shakers and entertaining the audience.

The winners from both categories will earn a place on the team to represent New Zealand in Beijing later this year.
