Jan Preston with Michael Maass and Nigel Masters.

"Jan Preston is a crusader of the keys… she carries the torch for the piano culture" - Melbourne Age

"From boogie woogie to ragtime, the air pulsates with the magical rhythms she produces....a forceful presence and a huge performance energy" - ChCh Star

Popular expat Kiwi, Jan Preston is a knockout boogie piano player, with her stunning ability as a pianist, richly resonant voice and an effervescent stage personality.

Winner of 7 music awards, Jan plays festivals and concerts throughout Australia, NZ, and Europe, tours her own shows and writes music for films and television.

While Jan was growing up in Napier NZ, percussionist Michael Maass was existing behind the wall in Berlin. They first played together at a festival in Germany in 2006 and an extraordinary musical connection was made. Maass is one of Europe's best known swing percussionist using anything to make rhythms: wine glasses, walls, floors, spoons, his own body, and even a handkerchief!

Add to this the energy and relentless rhythm of Jan Preston's left hand boogie together with Tauranga's superb upright bass player, Nigel Masters, and the power of the emerging timbres make for a vibrant and exciting show.
