Registrants from all over NZ will enter their camellias in the show for judging. The show will be open to the public on Saturday 18th August from 12noon to 5pm. You are most welcome to visit.
The camellias will be Japonicas, Hybrids and Reticulatas, in many forms, shapes, sizes and colours, all having been judged in the morning. Each year a theme at the National is chosen and Manawatu has chosen "Yesteryear Remember When". One category will be 'An item from Yesteryear with a camellia or camellias, the area no larger than A4 paper size'.
The Manawatu Branch of the NZ Camellia Society have been asked to run the event. The only other time it has been to Palmerston North was 1990 when the Manawatu Sports Stadium was hired. Each year a different city is asked to host the event. We have taken on this challenge and would love to see you there.
Registrants will be taken by bus to visit gardens and the new Coach Museum in Feilding on the Sunday along with a visit to the Camellia Research at Massey University on the Monday.
For anyone wishing to plant a hedge, a specimen tree or even a shrubbery, then the show will be the place to visit on Saturday afternoon 18th August. On hand will be many camellia growers and experienced judges who will be only to happy to help you choose the plant for your garden. Bring a pencil and paper so you may record your choice for your garden. In the foyer of the Convention Centre there will be camellia plants for sale. You may even find your favourite there.
Be assured of a warm welcome.
