The Brass Band Association of New Zealand will hold its annual contest in Timaru this year. Timaru kindly took responsibility for the contest when it became evident that the selected host - Christchurch - could not guarantee access to performance venues in the city.
The contest comprises solos, ensembles and full band events, together with a street march and an entertainment event to close the contest on the Sunday.
Distinguished overseas musicians Dr. Robert and Mr. David Childs are the principal adjudicators for the event.
Full details, including a timetable, will appear on the Brass Band Association website following closure of entries on May 4th 2012.
Many events are free. The major concerts will require ticket entry.
