Two-time Tui Award finalist Mel Parsons is sneaking into Wellington for a one-off show at Happy this February.
With her new album ‘Red Grey Blue’ currently in the final cut for Folk Album of Year 2012, the singer songwriter will be joined by double bassist Aaron Stewart and drummer/percussionist Nick George for an intimate show playing songs from both her albums.
Rip it Up makes comparisons with Fleetwood Mac and says: "this is a seriously sweet record... Red Grey Blue sounds like a classic straight off the bat"
Running times:
8:30pm - Doors open
9pm - Show starts
Please note the bar has eftpos facilities but is unable to give cash-out for door or merchandise sales, so please come prepared!
One of NZ’s rising songwriting stars, Parsons' bewitching vocals that have been stopping audiences in their tracks for the past few years since the release of her Tui Award-finalist debut album 'Over My Shoulder'. Co-produced with Jeremy Toy (She’s So Rad, Opensouls, Hollie Smith) the new album features harmonies by Anika Moa, along with cameo appearances from Don McGlashan and Greg Johnson. With an uncanny knack for hooks Parsons is “armed with instant sing-along choruses, a unique sensibility to melody and harmony and stonking drum grooves” (Martyn Pepperell/Word on the Street).
