Cheer up a winter's night with an entertaining talk and reading from much-loved veteran New Zealand writer, broadcaster and language-expert, Max Cryer. Max has a new book coming out 'Curious English Words and Phrases: The Truth Behind the Expressions We Love'.
Have you ever wondered where terms like 'end of your tether', 'gets my goat' or 'letting one's hair down' come from? Or why we call people 'geezers', 'sugar daddies' or 'lounge lizards'?
These are just a few of the words and phrases that language expert Max Cryer examines in this fact-filled and fun new book. Max explains where these phrases come from, what they mean and how they are used.
Ticket price includes refreshments. Tickets available from Palmerston North City Library and Paper Plus Palmerston North.
Max will be available for book-signing after the talk.
Tickets available at the the library and Paper Plus PN.
