Matariki Poetry Slam

Exciting, engaging event to celebrate Matariki - the Maori New Year! Explore your poetry genius within, and get your words spoken out loud. Be creative, and part of the poetry movement!

To avoid disappointment come early as registrations will be limited. Open to poets-spoken word artists 18 years +

Registrations taken from 6.15pm
Start time 7.00pm
Two rounds will take place – a third if there is a tie
1st prize $500 | 2nd prize $250 | 3rd prize $125

Slam criteria
1. Poems must have relevance to Matariki – Maori New Year
2. Poems must be original
3. One poet per poem
4. One poem per round
5. Poems must not exceed 3 minutes
6. Come prepared with three poems
7. Poems in other languages must have an English version
8. No props, no instruments, no costumes
9. Judges' decisions are final
