A great family day out at the Matakana Country Park!
Away from central Matakana, on the way to Omaha and Leigh sits 50 acres nestled amongst rolling hills, vineyards, and farmland. The Matakana Country Park complex boasts a restaurant, art gallery, café, craft co-op, equestrian facilities, adventure playgrounds, Saturday markets, gym, train rides, pony rides, and a variety of animals for the family to enjoy.
Tenants of the Matakana Country Park have put together a variety of activities for families to enjoy on Sundays in April. Key activities include the Autumn Indie Craft Bazaar which showcases a selection of art and craft, vintage and retro, handmade health products, jewellery, chalkboards and all sorts of wonderful things in a market/bazaar style. The Bazaar with run on Sundays 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th and there will be a carboot sale on the 1st of April. Matakana Playcentre will provide face painting for the children. The Stables Restaurant, with its large indoor dining space and bar and outdoor lawn will be teaming up with Ti Point wines, and will create a special menu for the day to accompany the wine specials. A selection of musicians will be playing at the restaurant from 12pm every Sunday in April. Musicians include singer songwriter Andrew Mockler, who is based in New Zealand but originally from the UK, Mal Macullum, Jeff Cox, Graham Mushett and Danni Bear. Patrons can expect a relaxed dining experience with amazing food and wine, great music all in a peaceful setting with lots to keep the kids occupied!
Children’s entertainment will include Sheep n Shear, sheep racing and sheep shearing shows on April 1st, train rides, pony rides, pony club games, jousting displays and demonstrations, dressage displays, face painting and lots more as the weeks go on!
