Martyn Pearce’s work will stun you for its precision, colour, perspective and detail.
Martyn Pearce was born and raised in southern England. From an early age it was obvious he possessed a natural ability to accurately draw anything he saw.
One of his earliest recollections of artwork was meeting the grocery man who delivered to his grandmother. Mr Baker used a big fat pencil to draw Indians in a Rolf Harris style which amazed him.
Martyn excelled at school in woodwork, metalwork, art and tech drawing. Consistently coming top in his class and receiving awards through his schooling years. His dream was to become a cartoon animator or musician.
Art was relegated to a hobby though he valued some lessons with David Slinn, a commercial freelance artist who worked for TV21 Comic. He has also been inspired by well known artists such as Norman Rockwell. Many hours have been spent copying famous artists to learn and perfect techniques.
During the early 1970s Martyn moved to New Zealand with his family. He worked as a display artist at MOTAT (The Museum of Transport and Technology) in Auckland. This included painting backdrop murals for large displays.
Changing direction from the painting and decorating trade, Martyn is developing his art full time.
He produces fine art oil paintings of all sizes including miniatures.
