The Manawatu Home Birth Association meets once a month alternating between morning and afternoon get-togethers. We are a group of parents who believe childbirth is a normal and healthy process. We provide information and support to families planning to birth their babies at home, in the Manawatu. Our gatherings are informal business/social events (over morning or afternoon tea on the second Wednesday of the month). We are always open to chatting with expectant families who are planning, or considering planning to birth their child(ren) at home.

Our mission statement is:
‘To promote home birth and advocate for women and their families/whanau birthing at home or the place of their choosing by providing support, information and resources (birthing pools, preparatory kits for siblings and an extensive library). We have faith in women's ability to birth naturally and are mindful of the advantages to birthing without medical intervention.’

We have a free library available with books, magazines, DVDs and videos on a diverse range of topics. We hire our birthing pools (2 different types) and califonts (for heating water). We have free sibling kits which contain puzzles, children's books, photos of home births and two anatomically correct dolls and their clothing to help older siblings adjust to a new baby. We also have birthing stools available.
