Magma is growing a reputation among emerging filmmakers globally. With over 220 films submitted for the 2012 festival, around 50 will make the final cut. These include Oscar nominated films, Cannes and Sundance selected films as well as many world and NZ premiers.
The Magma workshops in writing and production are held during the festival and we have industry guests ahead of evening screenings which make the festival rich and rewarding for attending filmmakers and audience.
Run as a competition, films in 2012 will be judged by director Roger Donaldson, film maker David Blythe, writer and producer Kath Akuhata-Brown and National Radio film reviewer Simon Morris. Special guests include writer Nick Ward (Second Hand Wedding), David Blythe (Wound) and producer Robyn Murphy (Run).
Programme available soon. Find out more at www.magmafilm.org.nz
Tickets available shortly from the Rotorua Convention Centre and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
