Ticket Information:

  • Lanern-making group workshops: $15.00
  • Booking fees may apply

In these workshops students will make their own personalised lantern which they can bring along to take part in the Lantern Parade. With a focus on recycled and found materials the core of each lantern is a plastic bottle which our talented tutors help students transform into a glowing masterpiece. These workshops are designed to cater to a range of age groups with the complexity of the lantern designed to match the age of the maker.

Workshop 1: 0 to 10 students (please call us if you have fewer than 10 students and we will be able to make arrangements specifically for your group);
Workshop 2: 10 to 20 students - $15 per person;
Workshop 3: 20 to 30 students - $12 per person;
Workshop 4: 30 plus students - $10 per person.

Workshop details:
- Booking for your Lantern Workshop must be made before the 13th of July 2012.
- Workshops are to be held at the Quarry Arts Centre between the 16th July and 31st August 2012. Between 9:30am and 4pm weekdays.
- All materials will be provided, however students are invited to bring along their own specialty materials should they like to.
- Workshops are 2 hours long, including a 15 minute snack break. Students are required to bring their own snacks and a drink bottle is recommended.
- The Quarry Arts Centre is tucked into the bush in the Western Hills and there are a number of walks into the bush near us. It’s only a short walk to an ancient Pa Site above the Quarry which could be a nice addition to your visit.
- There is plenty of parking and room for coaches on site.

Lantern Parade - 22 September 2012:
The Lantern Parade iagical element of the Festival of Light & Art. Children and their families embrace the community spirit of the festival carrying their glowing creations in the annual parade as it makes its way from the Whangarei Central Library to the FOLA Festival at the Quarry Arts Centre.
