Dr Patricia Te Arapo Wallace’s research interests include Māori material culture, in particular dress and textiles; the recovery of indigenous Māori science and technologies; and relating these areas to their broader Pacific origins. Patricia has researched John Macmillan Brown's Oceanic collection, held in the Canterbury Museum, and gathered traditional tikanga (customs) about the harvesting of kiekie and other weaving resources for a project with Te Roopu Raranga Whatu o Aotearoa. She is currently an Honorary Research Associate at Te Papa.
