Brothers Jun & Yuuki Bouterey-Ishido are making a return visit to Wanganui, back by popular demand. Jun is only the second New Zealander to win the Kerikeri International Piano Competition and both brothers have received many other awards. They have been studying on scholarships and performing in Europe for the last five years and are in great demand both there and on their increasingly rare visits home. They do not often get the opportunity to play together, so this is an exceptional treat for their Wanganui audience.
Albert Sword said of their last performance here: ‘Genius is a much maligned word these days, but both brothers displayed true musical genius as they made the most demanding of works come alive.’ On 15 September they will be playing Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms. Also on the programme is a short piece composed by Jun Bouterey-Ishido himself.
