Jonathan graduated from Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music in Wellington last year with a Postgraduate Diploma in Violin Performance and he intends to take the opportunity while in Europe to study with a number of prestigious teachers and participate in music schools and festivals including the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg.
Before he leaves, Jonathan is performing in four fundraising concerts to support the cost of his studies. The programme consists of:
Bach: Sonata for Solo Violin in g minor
Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 5 in F Major 'Spring'
Ravel: Violin Sonata No. 2 in G Major
Paganini: Cantabile
Wieniawski: Polonaise brilliante No. 2 in A Major
He will be accompanied by fellow NZSM graduate Matthew Oswin.
Jonathan completed his studies at NZSM with Helene Pohl (New Zealand String Quartet, NZSM Artists in Residence) and Vesa-Matti Leppänen (Concertmaster NZSO, NZSM Artist Teacher). He was a recipient of the Clare Galambos-Winter Violin Scholarships.
