Join De Band and Pan Workshop

The Caribbeanz Southern Stars Steelband, New Zealand's first Caribbean steelband orchestra, presents "Join De Band and Pan Workshop."

Steelband- traditional Caribbean music band, that uses a percussion instrument known as the steelpan.

We are looking for motivated people to become solid members of our steelband. No musical experience is required... but a love of Caribbean rhythm is!

Come try it out! Learn about different pans in a steelband, learn a proper song and decide if you want to take it further. You get to entertain audiences, meet new people and be apart of a simply unique Caribbean experience.

If you just want to come and jam!... Well we offer a 30min concert at 2:30pm for $5. It's free for workshop attendees.

Support us by purchasing our CD at the workshop or online.

10am - Introduction and history of pan;
10:15 - Get to know your pan, learn the notes, how to roll and how to strum;
12:30pm - Break for lunch (affordable bistro lunch at the Workingmens Club);
1pm - Learn a song;
2:30pm - Put on a concert for family and friends and afterwards enjoy a 30min concert!
