Janmastami is the festival celebrating the transcendental appearance of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is the Supreme Lord Himself and He made His appearance on this planet just over 5000 years ago. He performed many wonderful childhood pastimes in Vrndavan, India.
Every year millions of followers and devotees of Lord Krishna all over the world celebrate this day with much singing (bhajans and kirtan), cultural presentations about Krishna, worship (aarti) and a vegetarian feast in His honour. Traditionally the festival will go all day, culminating in a special candlelit aarti ceremony at midnight.
Please come and join us to celebrate this most auspicious day. The programme starts at 6pm and will continue all night until midnight. A special shadow puppet show about the birth of Lord Krishna is featured at 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome to come and go at anytime during the festival. Families and children are very welcome. A vegetarian feast will be served at 8:30pm.
If you would like to bring a 'birthday' gift for Lord Krishna, we recommend some fruit(s) or flower(s) as an offering.
We look forward to seeing you there!
