Impressionist artists were publicly ridiculed by critics when they exhibited their spectacularly spontaneous paintings. In this talk curator Jane Vial will discuss James Nairn, the ‘father’ of New Zealand’s Impressionist movement and the avant-garde painters that developed this unique style.
