Island Bay Festival 2012 - Day in the Bay

Not to be missed is the Day on the Bay, one of Wellington's best coastal event days in beautiful Island Bay. Starting at 10.00am there’s a bustling street market, Carnevale Italia, fair rides, kids' activities and entertainment to be enjoyed by all.

Chill out on the grass and listen to some of Wellington’s hottest bands. This year’s lineup includes: Joe Blossom, Family Cactus, Newtown Sounds & MC Israel Starr, Ryan Prebble and The Mediterranean Sextet!

The unique “Blessing of the Boats” attracts crowds to the coastline to watch the fishing boats put through their paces and blessed for safe carriage, and bountiful catches.

For those wanting to take the scenic route to Island Bay - Frocks on Bikes are departing from outside Freyberg Pool in Oriental Bay at 12.30 to cycle to Island Bay.
