This 4 day introductory course is designed to give students an insight into the methods and techniques taught and training practices used on the 2-year full time Diploma in Animation Production course. Students learn about animation from industry-experienced animators and artists.
Gain experience in many of the techniques used in animation including character design, Maya software tools & workflow, 3D character posing & expressions, life drawing class including live model (nude), painting digital textures for 3D models, effects animation, and Flash animation. Digital resources and drawing materials provided. Topics covered may vary between workshops.
At the end of the week, students receive a certificate of completion and take away their favourite pieces of animation work which may include digital stills, animated clips and hard copy sketches they have worked on. Students should bring a USB storage device on the final day to transfer any digital versions of their work.
Tutors use both traditional methods and training techniques of classical drawing and cutting edge visual learning and tutorials. The course tutors will also take time to discuss and answer questions about animation industry careers and the content and training methods of the South Seas 2 year full time Diploma in Animation Production.
