This is our annual Hot Red Hawke’s Bay event and it is as strong as ever. Welcome back to so many familiar faces that have made this event one of their annual “must see” events.

Every year we bring over 20 of our wineries and showcase a minimum of 100 wines to wine and hospitality trade and media and the general public. It would be impossible to see this many Hawke’s Bay wines and talk to this many Hawke’s Bay winemakers in one day anywhere else.

We are now NZ’s biggest regional wine expo showing both red and white wines.

Hot Red Hawke’s Bay was established in 2004 to showcase the premium red wines from the region and to cement Hawke’s Bay’s reputation as the NZ ultra-premium red wine capital. Nine years on Hawke’s Bay has more than proven we own that title and felt the time had come to add the equally popular white wines to the mix.

Many of our wineries here today have been part of the event since its inception as Hot Red Hawke’s Bay is thoroughly enjoyed by the winemakers, wine trade and media and public alike. On-going awards and accolades for Hawke’s Bay red wines continue to flow for all varieties, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Hawke’s Bay blends and of course, Syrah. Hawke’s Bay still is the largest producer for all these varieties in the country.

Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay continues to grow and excel in showcasing winemakers styles across the region. Often underestimated but never disappointing we share over 20 from different producer today. Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier and a couple of surprises are also represented for 2012.

Take the time and the opportunity to talk with our winery representatives and winemakers and discover more about what makes Hawke’s Bay wines so special.
