The Holcim Mini Marathon provides an opportunity for parents and young children to participate in physical activity. On the day of the Buller Gorge Marathon, a mini marathon is organised for children aged up to 12 years and consists of a 2km fun run. This event is held each year on the 2nd Saturday of February.

Over the years this event has attracted 300-400 participants.

The Mini Marathon is a 2km fun run/walk that starts from Victoria Square, and finishes through the official Buller Gorge Marathon finishing chute. Onsite registration opens at 11am and the mini marathon begins at 1.30pm.

The emphasis of this event is on participation and we welcome all local children to get involved. Entry is open to children aged up to 12 years, and parents are welcome to stretch their legs behind a pushchair if their children are too small to walk the distance themselves.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Solid Energy Centre reception desk or at all local primary schools in Westport from 16 January 2012. You can also register with Vicki at Sport Tasman on 03 789 6779.

This event is run in conjunction with the Buller Gorge Marathon.
