Interactive displays, workshops, competitions & activities celebrating Southland’s home harvest. Bring along your best or most interesting fruit & vegetables for the display or just come to look & learn.
20 one hour workshops on a wide variety of topics $7.50 each or 4 for $25:
• making herbal infusions for home made skin care products & cleaners
• saving your own vegetable and herb seed
• setting up and orchard
• propagating your own fruit berries and herbs
• bee keeping
• make your own cider & fruit wines
• how to set up a productive old style hedgerow
• different ways to preserve fruit bottling or freezing and drying
• make your own jams, chutneys, sauerkraut and preserves
• beginners guide to gardening
• weeds and their many uses
• making a flax bag
• introduction to permaculture
Plus free discussion workshops on the new food bill and how it might affect producers, markets and festivals Southland hosted by Steffan Browning
Plus Heritage Harvest Feast - (pot luck) Saturday night $5-$10 per family
