Have fun with sculpture - Learn from well known artists - Collaborate with other participants - Create a sculpture - at our new “Have a go with sculpture Fun Days” in the July school holidays at Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens.
Friday 6th July with Ekarasa Doblanovic - Imagine the Land Project
- Come and create a site specific land based sculpture using found materials, mud, leaves etc and be part of adding to a worldwide art project that creates a connection between people and the environment through art.
The artist will lead a guided tour around the gardens followed by a presentation about her unique art making. This will be followed by a light lunch, demonstration of techniques and a chance to collaborate to create an artwork that will be displayed in the Sculpture Gardens.
Saturday 7th July with Jennifer Kipfer - Graffiti Knitting or Yarn Bombing
- Learn how to create works utilising fabric, wool and plastic bags using knitting and crochet with tricks for quick and effective results. Anybody can learn and suitable for all ages and abilities.
The artist will lead a guided tour around the gardens followed by a presentation about her unique art making. This will be followed by a light lunch, demonstration of techniques and a chance to collaborate to create an artwork that will be displayed in the Sculpture Gardens.
Sunday 8th July with Sally Lush - Everyday Materials
- Come and learn some new techniques turning everyday utilitarian materials into art objects. As well as curating the annual exhibitions at Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens, Sally Lush creates sculptures and installations by manipulating everyday utilitarian materials. On the Fun Day you will learn some new techniques and create a collaborative work.
The artist will lead a guided tour around the gardens followed by a presentation about her unique art making. This will be followed by a light lunch, demonstration of techniques and a chance to collaborate to create an artwork that will be displayed in the Sculpture Gardens.
This series of 3 Fun Days aims to bring a wide range of people together to engage with art in this beautiful garden environment. Our goal at the Sculpture Garden’s is to create a vibrant and creative place where people are encouraged to learn about art and nurture their own creativity through participation.
The Fun Days run from 10am to 2.30 pm and are suitable for all ages. $30 per person per day includes a light lunch.
