Successful pseudonyms are rare in New Zealand, but Greg McGee well and truly pulled it off.
As Alix Bosco he won the Ngaio Marsh Crime Award for Cut and Run (2009), and was shortlisted for the same prize the following year with Bosco’s second novel Slaughter Falls (2010).
Outing himself in 2011, McGee has gone on to write Love and Money, a sharply funny novel published under his own name.
He talks with journalist and critic Finlay Macdonald about his genre-wide writing for the screen, stage and page, and how much he enjoyed his gender change.
